Project aims

This project element of the Council’s City Deal Place and Growth Programme aims to: increase the number of journeys by active and sustainable travel; improve bus journey times, air quality and local environments; reduce dependency on the private car; and support inclusive growth and access to employment.

Key benefits of the project will include an improvement in links across the A803, connecting communities which are severed by the route corridor, as well as improving connections between areas of multiple deprivation and employment opportunities, within the region and locally.

Objectives

These objectives will be achieved through a programme of transport and infrastructure measures within East Dunbartonshire and the north of Glasgow, along the A803 route corridor and its surrounding areas. This sustainable transport corridor will further activate a range of key retail, regeneration, and health and education facilities.

The City Deal project - in partnership with Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) and Glasgow City Council - sees an integrated approach to improve active travel and sustainable transport infrastructure within Bishopbriggs and connections to the north of Glasgow.
