    East Dunbartonshire Council made the above named Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which makes it unlawful for any person to drive or cause or permit to be driven any motor vehicle (with the exception of emergency service vehicles and those vehicles requiring access to properties adjacent to the closed section of road when its safe and practical to do so) on the A809 Drymen Road, Bearsden between its junctions with Ledcameroch Road, Bearsden and Colquhoun Drive, Bearsden, for reasons of public safety and convenience.This Order will operate from 10.00 hours until 12.00 hours on Sunday, 10 November 2024.
    The alternative route for vehicles travelling northwards on Drymen Road will be by way of Ledcameroch Road, Whitehill Road, Thorn Road, Thorn Drive, Colquhoun Drive and then returning to Drymen Road, Bearsden. Vehicles travelling southwards on Drymen Road should travel vice-versa. Vehicles travelling westwards on Roman Road will be diverted via Douglas Place, New Kirk Road and then northwards only on Drymen Road, Bearsden.

  • Notes: All vehicles prohibited except emergency service vehicles, vehicles engaged in the works and those vehicles requiring access to properties adjacent to the closed section of road when its safe and practical to do so during the works.

  • Reason for closure: Contractor carrying out various groundworks including the formation of a new access. These works are associated with the new Cala Housing Development presently under construction. There are also repairs being carried out on the existing former railway bridge on Chryston Road, due to corrosion discovered during the site investigation
  • Road affected: Chryston Road, Fauldhead, at a location to the east of its junction with Market Road, Kirkintilloch
  • Duration: Sunday 22 September 2024 until 6pm on Friday 31 March 2025
  • Notes: In order to prevent danger to the public arising from damage to the structural integrity of the bridge over the former railway bridge and for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, East Dunbartonshire Council will require to extend the existing temporary road closure on Chryston Road Fauldhead, between its junctions with Market Road, Kirkintilloch, and Sauchenhall Road/Muckcroft Road from 6pm on Sunday 22 September 2024 until 6pm on Friday 31 March 2025

  • Road affected: A section of Main Street between its junction with Glen Shirva Road and a point north of its junction with Kennedy Avenue
  • Duration: 6am on Monday 4 November 2024 until 6pm on Sunday 15 December 2024
  • Notes: These works are associated with the construction of a new outdoor centre on land to the east of Main Street adjacent to the Forth and Clyde Canal. In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner
    Alternative routes, will be by way of Main Street and Twechar Road, in Twechar, the B8048 Kirkintilloch Road, Auchinstarry Road, Howe Road, the B8023 Shirva Road, the A803 Kilsyth Road and Glasgow Road, the A806 New Lairdsland Road, and the B8048 Waterside Road, Kirkintilloch, and these routes will be sign posted
    Access to the closed section of road will only be maintained for emergency service vehicles, vehicles engaged in the works and those vehicles requiring access to properties and land adjacent to the closed section of road when its safe and practical to do so during the works. Please note that access will also be maintained for SPT buses only during the closure by way of banksmen/traffic control during the temporary road closure
    It is also noted that SPEN will only have the closure in place on Main Street, Twechar, between 9am and 6pm, each day, Mondays to Fridays. Thereafter, temporary traffic signals will be in place from 6pm until 9am,each night/morning, Main Street, will also be open over the weekend under the control of temporary traffic signals. The temporary traffic signals will be manually controlled on Saturdays and Sunday from 7am until 7pm, each day. The use of temporary traffic signals may result in delays to traffic in the area.

  • Notes: In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, rolling temporary two and three way temporary traffic signals will be used to control traffic movement. The temporary traffic signals will be manually controlled at peak times, each day.

  • Town: Bearsden
  • Road affected: A81 Milngavie Road just north of its junction with Mosshead Road
  • Duration: 9.30am until 6pm on Sunday 3 November 2024
  • Notes: In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, the existing traffic signals/pedestrian crossing facility will require to be switched off and temporary four way traffic signals incorporating pedestrian crossing facilities will be used to control traffic movements

  • Road affected: Auchinairn Road at its junction with Beech Road
  • Duration: 9.30am on Monday 18 November 2024 till the 2 December
  • Notes: In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, the existing traffic signals will require to be switched off and temporary three way traffic signals incorporating pedestrian crossing facilities will be used to control traffic movements. The temporary traffic signals will be manually controlled between 7am and 7pm, each day.

  • Road affected: Gallowhill Road near its junction with Marguerite Avenue/Westergreens Avenue

  • Town: Milngavie
  • Road affected: A81 Strathblane Road north of its junction with Moor Road
  • Duration: 9.30am until 3.30pm on Thursday 31 October 2024
  • Notes: In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, temporary two way traffic signals will be used to control traffic movements. The temporary traffic signals will be manually controlled at all times.

  • Reason for temporary traffic management: Council Transportation is to carry out various works associated with the active travel corridor.
  • Town: Milngavie
  • Road affected: A807 Auchenhowie Road, between a point east of its junction with Finlay Rise and Alllander Toll Roundabout.
  • Duration: 9.30am on Monday 4 November till 4 April 2025
  • Notes: This work is associated with the A807 Active Travel Corridor project.
    The works area will be from east of the Rangers FC training ground to the Allander Toll roundabout. The works programme has been broken down into six phases, with each phase approximately 250m in length. In the interests of contractor and public health and safety, temporary traffic lights will be in place to manage the flow of traffic past each phase of work.
    In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, rolling temporary two, three and four way traffic signals will be used to control traffic movements on Auchenhowie Road between a point east of its junction with Finlay Rise and Allander Toll Roundabout. The temporary traffic signals will be manually controlled between 7am and 7pm, each day.

Scheduled temporary footpath restriction

  • Town: Bearsden
  • Road affected: A section of Grampian Way, Bearsden, between its junction with Ledi Drive and Alva Gardens. A section of the footway works outside Baljaffray Primary School will be carried out during the school October holidays
  • Duration: Monday to friday from 7am until 6pm, from 30 September until Monday 18 November 2024
  • Notes: In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, rolling temporary three/ four/ and five way traffic signals will be used to control traffic movements on Grampian Way, Bearsden, between its junction with Ledi Drive and Alva Gardens, Bearsden, from 7am until 6pm, each day, from Monday 30 September 2024 for approximately seven weeks ie Mondays to Fridays only, no weekend working. The temporary traffic signals will be manually controlled at all times, each day.
    As part of the footway resurfacing works, the three link roads between the B8050 Baljaffray Road and Grampian Way, Bearsden, will also be closed at times during the footway resurfacing works. Please note that only link road will be closed at the one time. Alternative diversion routes will be sign posted.
