You will be aware that the Scottish Parliament elections take place on Thursday 7 May 2026. The Council administers these elections, and we are looking for your help. The Election Team currently has a number of vacancies for Polling Clerks and Enumerators.
Polling Clerks work at Polling Stations and administer the voting process by checking voters off against the electoral register, distributing ballot papers and otherwise assisting voters on Polling Day. If you are working as a Polling Clerk then you need to be at your designated Polling Place by 6.30am on Thursday 7 May, to help set up and your day will finish when voting ends around 10pm. You will also be required to attend a mandatory online training session. The rate for Polling Clerks is £245.
Enumerators work at the count and essentially count votes. If you are working as an Enumerator, then you have to be at the Leisuredrome in Bishopbriggs and signed in by 8.30am on Friday 8 May. You will receive a briefing on the count process and counting will start at 9am sharp. There are two ballot papers to be counted so it’s likely to take most of the day. The rate for Enumerators is £150.
Please note that you are not required to take any annual leave to participate in these roles, so the allowance is on top of your normal day’s pay.
If you are interested in either of these roles, please contact the Election Team at Election@eastdunbarton.gov.uk Please note that if 7 or 8 May is a normal working day for you, it is essential that you speak to your line manager and obtain their agreement before applying.
If you have any questions regarding the roles or wish to apply, please contact Election@eastdunbarton.gov.uk as soon as possible.
Thanks
