Time is running out to provide your views on a new plan to steer active travel in East Dunbartonshire.

More than 120 people have already had their say on how best to make walking, wheeling and cycling the first and natural choice for local everyday trips.

East Dunbartonshire Council is seeking feedback on the draft Active Travel Strategy 2 (ATS2). The deadline is midnight on Sunday 15 November 2026, so don’t delay.

Find out more and fill in an online survey by visiting the Draft Active Travel Strategy 2 (ATS2) Consultation page

In addition, drop-in sessions have been held across the area – including Bishopbriggs, Kirkintilloch, Lennoxtown and Mugdock Country Park – with the final events taking place soon:

  • Milngavie Library – Wednesday 4 November, between 1pm and 5pm
  • Bearsden Community Hub (Lesser Hall) – Monday 9 November, between 3pm and 7pm.

All responses received during the consultation will be considered when finalising ATS2.

Once approved, the 10-year strategy will set out policies and actions to boost active travel locally.

We have already gathered a range of useful responses via the online survey and at local drop-in events, but we are keen to hear from as many people as possible.
Councillor Gordan Low, Leader of East Dunbartonshire Council

“If you want to take part, there’s no time to lose. Please visit the website before close of play on Sunday 15 November 2026.”

Creating the conditions to support enhanced active travel will play a vital role in improving environmental, health and wellbeing, and inclusive growth outcomes for residents, as well as workers, students and visitors.

The new strategy will help to ensure that East Dunbartonshire is in as strong a position as possible to attract external funding for delivery.

ATS2 supports and ties in with other Council strategies, such as the Climate Action Plan.

Visit the Draft Active Travel Strategy 2 (ATS2) Consultation page for more information and to access the online survey (closes at midnight on Sunday 15 November 2026).
