The winner of the Sustainability Champion Award 2023

Our final Provost Community Champion Award for this year is our Sustainability Champion, Amanda Stark.

Amanda runs Stitch the Gap, a Social Enterprise that teaches sewing machine skills to have a positive impact on climate change by helping people to reduce, recycle and repurpose fabric. Amanda aims to remove barriers to learning so people can develop new life skills. Stich the Gap uses donated fabric and offers a repair service for sewing machines. There is also a lending library of machines for those that don’t have their own at home. Amanda helps people repair and create clothes and textiles and the classes have proved so popular with both children and adults, that Stitch the Gap now has premises locally. Congratulations Amanda – the Sustainability Champion 2023!
