Important announcement

Tell us what matters most to you by taking part in our Budget consultation for 2027/2028.

Back

The Council budget for 2027/2028 will be decided in March 2027 and we want to ensure that our budget proposals address the issues that our residents, businesses and workforce feel most strongly about.

As you know, all Local Authorities continue to face increasing budget pressures including rising costs. As we prepare to set our Budget for 2026/2027, our current budget gap is £7 million. There is still time for this to change once we know the final budget settlement for local government in December, however we expect our gap to remain significant.

Although there is currently a national discussion on public service reform happening on the back of the Scottish Government’s

Programme for Government, until any proposals are confirmed, it is business as usual for us, as we continue to deliver essential services for our local communities. Therefore, we must set a balanced budget for 2027/2028 in March 2027.

In this Budget consultation survey, we are seeking your views on what is most important to you. Everyone is welcome to complete the survey, but we particularly urge those who live in East Dunbartonshire to take part.

The findings from this consultation will be considered as we put forward proposals and overall budget decisions.

The consultation is now live and will run until Sunday 22 November.

You can complete the survey online on the Budget consultation webpage.
