Groups working at the heart of local towns and villages are being offered the chance to secure support for a special project.
East Dunbartonshire Council’s new Local Community Grant Fund aims to make a positive difference across the area.
Organisations can apply for up to £4,000 to finance projects that:
- Bring people together
- Improve wellbeing
- Reduce isolation
- Support children, young people and/or families
- Help people who may face barriers to taking part.
The closing date for the first round of funding is 21 September 2026. It is envisaged a second round will open in early 2027.
Applications are being invited from groups that have a constitution and a bank account, are not for profit, can provide independently-verified accounts and strive to bring benefits to residents of East Dunbartonshire.

The East Dunbartonshire Local Community Grant Fund is a new initiative which follows on from the previous grants scheme that ran for many years.
We are keen to hear from local groups with good ideas that will have a positive impact in their community.
He continued, "The project does not need to be large or complex – small ideas can make a huge difference.
"This new fund will help to empower the unsung heroes working within East Dunbartonshire’s towns and villages.
"We know that applying for funding can sometimes feel daunting, especially for small or volunteer-led groups, so we're here to help."

Outcomes are expected around 17 December 2026, with payments due to be processed in January 2027. Please note, grants cannot be used to fund projects that have already taken place – such as events in December 2026.
Applications are assessed by the Grants Advisory Committee, which makes recommendations for awards to the Community Planning Partnership (CPP) Board.
The CPP includes representatives of the Council, East Dunbartonshire Voluntary Action, the Health and Social Care Partnership, the Leisure and Culture Trust, Police Scotland and other organisations providing local public services.
